Sometimes people smile at me for it. Or I get incredulous looks. "What, you think THAT's good?" "My friend did metabolic balance and had a really bad experience." Or: "My sister's husband lost a lot of weight and then put it all back on again." And my favorite saying: "That's not scientific at all."
Then I almost can't help but smile. Because this month we are celebrating our 7th metabolic balance anniversary! That's how long we've been working with these nutrition plans.
We've created well over 1,000 nutrition plans in that time and if there's one thing I can say, it's this: the system works. If you change your diet according to metabolic balance, you will normally achieve your goal. Whether it's to lose weight, reduce pain, have more energy or alleviate allergies.
From that I would say that the success rate in our practice is around 98%.
That's an estimate, but I think it's pretty much in line with reality. Of course, this only applies to those participants who actually stick to the plan and take advantage of the support. Sometimes we never hear from someone again, either because they prefer to manage on their own or because they have abandoned the diet. But this is extremely rare.
Are there no "relapses"?
Yes, of course there are. Sometimes "life" just gets in the way. You experience a crisis situation such as unemployment or the loss of a loved one. Or you fall back into old patterns for other reasons.
But the method can't help that. And the nice thing is: I can always go back to what was actually good for me.
What is metabolic balance anyway?
Although I keep talking about it, I'm sure there are many readers who don't even know what metabolic balance is.
The metabolic balance nutrition plan is created individually for each participant based on their blood values. The plan specifies exactly which foods participants are allowed to eat in the initial phase.
The aim of the plan is to return to a natural diet that is adapted to your own metabolism. The change in diet is divided into different phases, at the beginning you stick strictly to the plan, later you can loosen up.
Typical results are the boosting of the metabolism, weight loss, improved energy, regulated digestion, improvement in general well-being and optimization of blood values.
metabolic balance itself explains its method as follows:

Why I like using metabolic balance so much
As a nutrition coach, do I even need to use such a system? Couldn't I just create my own nutrition plans? Yes, I could! But it would be a lot more work and my clients would have to pay for the time I spend sitting at my desk working out a plan.
Even though the press in particular keeps saying that the program is expensive, the price is absolutely unbeatable for what my clients get. My work alone would cost more than the entire package. And Then there are the blood values and the individual nutrition plan.
The metabolic balance plan serves as a great basis for me to initiate a change in my clients' diet as quickly and easily as possible. Once the first strict phase is over, the plan can be adapted to individual needs and circumstances.
My top reasons why I like working with these nutrition plans:
1. The blood values show the current status and increase motivation
Probably the most criticized point about the method is that the selection of foods based on the blood values is not scientific, but hocus-pocus. I, on the other hand, see the comprehensive blood values as an immense advantage, because it opens my eyes to any weak points and also gives me the opportunity to send participants to the doctor for further clarification if necessary.
But it should be obvious that someone who has a sugar level at the upper limit of the normal range, for example, should not eat the same as someone who has completely normal sugar levels, shouldn't it?
2. clear rules help with implementation
We humans are often simple-minded. If someone sets us rules and guidelines, we stick to them. Especially if we've paid for it.
This is how I explain the huge success my clients have had with their dietary changes. Because they simply stick strictly to it. The diet plan clearly states: no exceptions in the first 14 days. It lists which foods the participant is allowed to eat, and everything that is not on the plan is also not allowed in the first 14 days.
It's as simple as that.
Even though I am generally of the opinion that there are no prohibitions and absolute rules, in my experience anyone who is changing their diet achieves the very best results if they stick 100% to certain rules at the beginning. Without exception.
3. it addresses one of the most important points for me
The method is primarily based on regulating sugar levels and insulin secretion. This means that the diet plans are also ideal for people who are "sugar addicts" or have simply resolved to eat less sweets. If you have not yet taken our sugar quiz and would like to know how bad your sugar addiction is, you can order the free test here:

4. simple and suitable for everyday use
Even if it seems a little complicated at first to weigh food, shop according to a list and make sure you take five-hour breaks between meals: You quickly get used to the rhythm and meal composition. After 14 days, the rules are so easy to apply that you'll be able to follow them on the go and in restaurants.
5. easy to adapt
Of course, participants do not have to live with a list for the rest of their lives. running around. Because we meet up a few times and can then also talk about how we can modify or rather supplement the plan so that it fits into everyday life.
Perhaps someone would prefer to eat a vegetarian, Paleo or TCM diet? It's all possible if you see the plan as a starting point and not as a rigid structure. In this way, I can bring my knowledge into the consultation and also incorporate topics relating to lifestyle, motivation and exercise.
6. participants learn everything they need
No points are counted, no meals are replaced with shakes and no calories are calculated. It's very important to me that participants understand the whys and wherefores behind the rules so that they can carry on when they stop coming to my meetings.
I don't usually learn much with shakes and points, and I'm lost as soon as I stop using them.
7. it simply works - in a healthy and fast way

I said it in the introduction. metabolic balance delivers results. When I change my diet, I want to achieve something. So why not choose a method that also works really well?
I certainly enjoy working with people who really want to and who stay on the ball, and that's what I experience in my daily practice. Clients who come to their second and third appointments with a smile because they feel that something is finally working.
Thanks to the blood values, we also have a way of not only judging the subjective feelings of the participants, but also of monitoring whether their health is improving using objective measures. And the participants' GPs can be involved and are usually happy when their patients feel better.
Is there another way?
Of course! metabolic balance is not the only good system in the world. There are people who can't cope with it. I admit I'm a fan, but I also have a lot of clients who I coach on a more spontaneous, less regimented level.
Whether you do metabolic balance or something else - the important thing is that you get involved and just do it once. You can make corrections at any time. But doing nothing or only half-heartedly - that won't get you anywhere.
A teacher of mine once said that a good, successful nutrition program needs 3 components:
- The system must work
- There has to be a commitment
- You need someone to accompany and motivate you for a while
metabolic balance offers these 3 components. But all our other offers are also based on these 3 components.
And there is also our own online course on healthy nutrition suitable for everyday life, in which you can learn everything you need to know on a self-learning basis!
