What is actually healthy - and what is not?

Initial question: Is milk really healthy?

How many different opinions or even contradictory studies are there on milk alone? And how are you supposed to find your way through this jungle of conflicting information?

Milk is healthy and provides us with calcium. Milk provides us with valuable ingredients such as branched-chain amino acids.

There is also talk of milk causing mucus and promoting allergies. Or that people with skin problems should not consume milk at all.

Controversial debate: What is healthy and what is not

If you want to know these days what is actually healthy and what is not, and if you then actually want to implement this in your life in the long term, then in my opinion you need three things above all:

1

. Reliable information

2

. The ability to think logically
3. A good network

There is enough information about nutrition. No, not enough - far too much! It's quite possible that you sometimes don't even know what's true anymore because of all the information.

Reliable information

Look for people whose information you can rely on. Because they are reputable. And preferably independent. Because as soon as they receive money from an institution or a corporation, you can imagine how they "fudge" their information to play into the cards of the donor.

And we have found such positive, reliable, independent and well-informed people over the years.

Last week I wrote to you from Austria. We weren't just there "for fun", but we met up with other independent nutrition experts at the weekend to exchange ideas.

And I realized once again that I am incredibly grateful that we have such well-informed, well-read and scientifically working people in our network, such as the former nuclear medicine specialist and now preventive physician Prof. Dr. Jörg Spitz, the evolutionary biologist Dr. Sabine Paul, the ecotrophologist, science journalist and author Ulrike Gonder, the qualified dietician and Lowcarbgoodies author Daniela Pfeifer and the biologist and podcaster Julia Tulipan, who were all with us in Austria.

It is precisely this network that enables us to ensure that we are on the right track or to obtain information that is not easily accessible to the public. There is such a valuable wealth of experience, concentrated knowledge and great enthusiasm for the topic of health and for passing on information to the interested public.

However, it was not only the professional exchange in Austria that was nice and important, but also the get-together with like-minded people. But a little more about that at the very end...

Logical thinking

If someone tells you that sugar is not harmful and does not cause diabetes, or that animal products are unhealthy per se, or that it doesn't matter what you eat as long as you don't put on weight and get enough exercise... then start thinking logically and to pay attention to the agenda of the person making these statements.

In our Arktis BioPharma Switzerland blog, we regularly publish scientifically sound and understandable articles about nutrition, health and current trends such as chronic diseases or irritable bowel syndrome.

We are convinced that if more people took the time to read up on a few fundamental things and really understand them, many of them would feel better very quickly with regard to modern lifestyle diseases.

Because then it would hardly be conceivable for us to read that someone with an inflammatory bowel disease smokes 20 cigarettes a day and drinks 2 energy drinks a day. Or how do you see it?

A good network

Julia Gruber mit mehreren Frauen und einem Mann vor rotem HintergrundThe real secret to success if you want to take care of your health in the long term and sustainably is to have a good network of positive and proactive people around you!

Time and again, I realize how important it is to know people who "tick" likeme. And I think that's important for you too. For example, if you want to eat less sweets, it's not helpful if everyone around you is constantly eating chocolate or bringing you cake.

Or - even worse - if your friends or family ridicule the fact that you want to eat healthily or play down the harmfulness of unhealthy eating....

The fact is that in most cases we already have our environment, our family, our work colleagues and our friends. And we don't want to let go of the people we love. But if they are not supportive, it can be discouraging at first glance. There are two options here:

The first option is to simply stick to your healthy lifestyle for a few weeks despite the headwinds. And don't let yourself be put off. It's quite possible that the people around you will give up trying to change your mind over time. One mother even told me recently that her whole family was suddenly only drinking water and no more sweet drinks. Without her having said anything to her children or her husband. Just because she only drinks water herself.

And the second option is to get support from new people. You can meet health-conscious people in many places. For example, when doing sport, at lectures or conferences, at cooking classes, on yoga vacations or online, for example in Facebook groups.

And who knows, maybe you'd like us to support you?

In our popular Podcast Darmglück you will regularly find interesting facts about holistic health from me. Although this may sound a little exaggerated, the people around you are crucial to what your lifestyle actually looks like. And in an online course like this, you can learn exactly that. Find people who keep your energy high.

Have you ever thought about your positive environment? Who supports your health efforts and who doesn't?

Now we would like to know: What has been your experience in finding a supportive, uplifting environment? Who do you like to ask for information about healthy eating? Who do you follow, what do you like to read?
We look forward to your comment!
