Stick with it! How you manage to pull something off

No matter what good things we do for ourselves, sometimes we don't manage to keep up the new habits in the long term. That's why I asked trainer Ralf Gabler to give us some food for thought on this topic in a guest article. Here we go:

Ralf_Gabler_Kopf-compressorA big thank you to Julia Gruber for the opportunity to write this guest article here on her blog. Just very briefly, so that you know who is writing here: My name is Ralf Gabler, I am an alternative practitioner, (hypnosis) coach and trainer for people who are entering the second round of their lives (Ralf Gabler - Round 2). Sticking with it and starting again are two important topics in my daily work. I would like to give you an insight into the topic of "sticking with it" from my point of view.

Allow failure!

Quite simply: you have to allow yourself to fail, to break! I can literally hear and feel it working inside you right now. "Allow failure?" What does that mean and above all: "How is that supposed to help me stick with something important?"

Let's briefly go through this together and shed some light on it. If you stick with it and persevere, everything is fine and we don't need to talk. Isn't that right? The "I can hang in there" version is the dream version. But even the dream version often remains an unattainable dream in reality. So that's exactly where we should start if you want to achieve something, if you want to get ahead. We go to the point where you have not yet permanently implemented your resolution or goal. You have allowed yourself a break from your changeover. Now the top sentence comes into play for you. Never mind! Breaks are fine.

The break to keep going

Why? It's simple - you've already done something for a certain amount of time before the break. Now you've allowed yourself a brief interruption. But you have already managed to pull something off for a while. You can do again what you have already done once. Maybe even shorter, or even longer this time. Don't blame yourself, just keep going. After your interruption, just carry on as you did before the interruption. As if the interruption had never happened. Just carry on. You are no longer at the beginning. You gained experience before the interruption. Experience that will make your next attempt a little easier.

You can do it again

Start again. You have already managed to start something once (or more). You did it for a certain amount of time. Then there was an interruption. After the interruption, you continue again. It's very simple. An interruption is not the end! It is an interruption, a (necessary) intermediate step.

Versatile and colorful

Life is not uniform and monotonous. Life is colorful and varied. You have the right to variety. There's nothing wrong with taking a break in between. Pause, reflect, catch your breath. And then head towards your goal with renewed vigor. You know what is good for you, what you want. Nevertheless, it is difficult to change old patterns in the long term. Because in stressful and demanding situations Everyone falls back into familiar patterns.

No problem

You see: No problem! You've already been able to do what you want at least once for a while, you can do it again! Even better, even longer. What worked once will work again. Do you understand what I mean?

It's no problem to interrupt something you want to do. As long as you start working towards your original goal again after the interruption. Be kind to yourself. Allow yourself to fail. Then start again from the beginning! Every time again. Every time anew. No problem.

Breaking the rules - cheat day

You can even take this to the extreme to get the success you want. Build in the break on purpose. Cheat day is what you call it. Once a week, you deliberately break the new rules. You deliberately do everything that the new rules would not allow. Let off steam for a day. Do what is not allowed. Take an actively planned, deliberate day off. And then go back to your new system. Because the break is not a bad thing. It would just be a shame if you didn't continue after the break. Give yourself a cheat day when you need it! A break in between can also help you get closer to your goal.

Keep going - keep at it

This is how you manage to keep at something. By allowing yourself to fail, to break and then start again. There is always a "round 2" and it's never too late to try again. Trust me! You can do it.

I hope I was able to make you realize how important it is that you allow yourself a break. So that you can carry on again afterwards. That way you will change your life bit by bit. From break to break, from round to round, closer to the goal you want to achieve.

And now it's your turn! How do you keep at it? Do you have a strategy that helps you in particular? Or do you have a question? Your contribution in the comments below this report will help every other reader to achieve their goal that little bit better. Leave a reply and contribute to the discussion!
