One of the most important questions: the question of my why

manifest

If I hadn't seen it so often with my own eyes, I probably wouldn't believe it either. That diet can change your life, I mean. But I've seen it. Again and again. And that's definitely part of the reason why I do what I do.

"Unfortunately" I don't have a miraculous healing story regarding nutrition that I personally went through.

Sometimes I think it would be a lot easier if I could tell you that I suffered from being overweight for years and then discovered something that helped me lose 20 kilos and finally feel comfortable in my body again. Or that I had healed my thyroid naturally thanks to a balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle. Or something else like that.

For many trainers, coaches and, above all, therapists, this is precisely the reason why they came to their profession or at least their specialization - through their own story of suffering.

This story of suffering drew their attention to a method or even led them to develop their own system, which they now pass on to their clients. And that, of course, is a great and authentic story that immediately captivates people and also attracts the attention of ideal customers.

My path

I became a nutrition coach because my husband Roman was already a nutrition coach with his own practice when I met him. And over the years, I started to help him more and more with his work.

Initially only at weekends. Then one day a week. And then at some point, all the time.

I was fascinated and interested in the subject from the very beginning. But I really developed a passion for it when I saw what a change in diet did for my customers. This effect is often truly life-changing!

My customers tell me things like:

  • I'm finally sleeping at night again
  • my mood has improved so much that I no longer have depression
  • my doctor has told me that I can stop taking my diabetes medication
  • years of pain have been blown away
  • I can carry my grandson up the stairs with ease
  • my coworkers ask me where my sudden creativity comes from
  • my son has become much calmer and his school performance has improved enormously
  • not only have I lost 20 kilos, but I've also signed up for my first running competition

I could go on forever, but I think you understand what I'm getting at: the results of my clients are a big part of my why. Because I see that my work creates benefits, brings results and inspires and motivates people.

Two milestones on my path

One milestone on this path was definitely not my primary training as a nutrition coach, but my further training to become a medically certified nutritionist at metabolic balance near Munich. It was the first time for me that it was openly discussed that counting calories does not lead to success, that it is not necessary to calculate the basal metabolic rate of customers and that losing weight can actually be quick without being unhealthy.

The approach of metabolic balance is that the body gets the right nutrients that the individual metabolism currently needs. To do this, a blood analysis is carried out and an individual nutrition plan is drawn up.

iin_konferenz-compressorThe second major milestone was my further training at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition in New York. There, the focus was not only on food, but also on lifestyle and influences from family, friends, work environment, leisure activities and so on, in addition to knowledge about healthy eating. The school's objective is: "Our mission is to play a crucial role in improving health and happiness, and through that process, create a ripple effect that transforms the world." Loosely translated:

"Our mission is to play a crucial role in improving health and happiness, and through that process, create a ripple effect that transforms the world."

That may sound a little American, but it was incredibly inspiring for me to see the big picture and be part of a movement that affects the whole world, not just me and my immediate environment. We were taught at the school via distance learning, i.e. all online, by experts such as Deepak Chopra, Barry Sears, Mark Hyman and Danielle Laporte, and it opened my eyes to what is possible.

My credo

essen_ist_information-compressorPerhaps looking at my why from a completely different angle: in my opinion, nutrition is one of the most powerful ways to feel better very quickly. And I'm convinced that far too few people know about it.

Sure, everyone nods their head when they hear that nutrition is important. "Yes, yes, I know that!" is probably one of the most common phrases I hear in this context.

But when I then say that things like high blood pressure, asthma, joint pain, intestinal problems, skin problems or hay fever can be significantly alleviated within a short period of time with the right diet, I tend to get incredulous looks.

Or that losing weight quickly and permanently without the yo-yo effect is not wishful thinking, but a reality for most of my customers.

Especially when I say that it's not particularly difficult, that it's not necessary to starve yourself and that you don't have to give up everything you like, the skepticism becomes even greater.

When I consider that food is not just calories, but food information for my body, then the skeptical view changes very quickly. Everything I eat ends up in my blood. The nutrients are distributed throughout my body and my body uses them to produce things like hormones, enzymes, cell walls and energy. So it does matter what we eat! Food has an effect.

And this message needs to be spread. That's what drives me.

But it's not dogged and stubborn, without any finger-wagging. Simple and suitable for everyday use, with fun and ease. Because:

Healthy eating has to be fun, otherwise it's not healthy
.

Who am I actually doing all this for?

Jahresrückblick

1. for me - because the topic of nutrition in general, cooking with fresh food, looking for recipes, writing texts, giving courses, giving talks, listening to and supporting people: I simply enjoy it all! I also want to do things the way I think they should be done, and sometimes that's best when you're self-employed and don't have to answer to a boss.

2. For you - because if you're reading here, you're looking for information or simply like-minded people. My reader survey has already given me a lot of ideas about what you might be interested in and it is precisely this feedback that motivates me to keep going. I want to offer useful information here that will help you move forward and also give you personal support if you need it!

3. For society - because as a society, we are not getting healthier despite all the medical progress, we are getting sicker. And I don't want to reproach myself later for not having done anything with all my knowledge to do my bit to educate and improve everyone's quality of life. I want to inspire people to take their health back into their own hands instead of handing it over to some external authority.

And now, of course, I'd like to know: what is your why? Why are you interested in nutrition? I look forward to your comment!
