I think it again and again - there are so many analogies between business and health. For example: we are responsible for our own success. Sometimes we would like to hand over responsibility, in one area to a business coach, in another area to a doctor or therapist. Or blame external circumstances if things don't go as we would like.
But that doesn't make sense. In the end, it's always us. The victim role doesn't get us anywhere. In any area.
I've just come back from a mastermind retreat with business coach Sigrun. The retreat took place in Sigrun's home country of Iceland and was simply magical.
And because it was so wonderful, I'd like to let you indulge in the pictures here and share my main learning points from the retreat with you. And the great thing is: these learning points can be applied to business, health and nutrition!
Rules for nutrition and entrepreneurship
1. stop thinking and start acting
This is probably the biggest point for me. I'm often very much in my head, thinking about what can be done, what the best strategy is and gathering information from lots of different places in order to get everything "right". But in the last year, I've started to listen to my heart and my intuition even more.
And that gets me much further than all the thinking.
I notice time and again that many people want to know everything exactly, especially when it comes to healthy eating. Too precisely. Because there is so much - even contradictory - information on nutrients, calories, effects, contraindications and so on. If you first want to know everything in detail and read hundreds of blogs and books, you're usually not much smarter afterwards, but rather confused. And confusion paralyzes you.
It's exactly the same in business. If you don't get started but get lost in theories and strategies, you won't get anywhere. I read "Money Loves Speed" the other day. That made sense to me.
That's why my advice to you when it comes to your diet: just try it out! Decide on a diet and then go for it. Go with what your heart tells you to. Observe how your body reacts to it. Stick with what works for you and change what doesn't.
But don't change your path every 5 minutes or throw in the towel after the first setback - it takes a moment for the measures to take effect. Your body supports you by giving you signals. Listen to them and act accordingly!
You can't go too far wrong with your diet if you feel really good. And if not, then change your strategy or get help! But I'll come back to this topic below.
2. you need a plan
This may sound like the opposite of the above point.
But that's not it! Because running without a plan and without a head won't get you where you want to go. In other words, yes, you have to be ready to jump, but you should think about where you want to end up beforehand. Entrepreneurship and nutrition are not very different in this respect either!
I keep hearing new customers say: I've done and tried so much, but nothing has helped. The question is: what was the strategy behind the action, the trial and error? After asking more detailed questions, I then hear that the customers have perhaps "reduced their dairy products a little" or given up bread and pasta for a week.
Randomly strung together measures that you don't stick to for long enough will at best give you a chance success. However, they usually rob you of all your energy and motivation.
That's why I advise you to make a concrete plan if you want to get your diet or health under control. Follow a successful concept or get support from a coach who can actually demonstrate success themselves and give the plan enough time to actually work.
Many of our customers have the following aha experience: if they stick to our plan exactly, success comes much quicker and easier than they ever thought!
And it's similar in business. And I can now say from my own experience that Sigrun is an excellent person to develop a plan with you.
3. like-minded people around you will take you further. And there's nothing wrong with asking for help.
I think one of the most common reasons why people don't manage to eat healthily or take care of their health is that they don't have like-minded people around them.
The spouse doesn't join in, the children only want pasta and sweets or you get a dirty look from friends if you don't indulge in cake or alcohol.
In Iceland, I have once again realized how important it is to interact with positive-minded people who are pursuing the same goal as you.
That's why my advice to you is: if you want to eat and live healthier, don't hide away at home in your shell. Because that won't help you to eat healthily in the long term. Instead, if your old circle of friends won't join you, find a few new friends with whom you can walk the path together.
And if you don't have these new friends physically in your area, then at least online! Just like I am now attending a business retreat was to exchange ideas with new and old entrepreneur friends, there are also ways and opportunities to go to events or places where you can meet other health-conscious people.

Another thing I learned from this retreat is: If you're stuck, ask for help! You don't have to do everything on your own. And the best way to get help is to ask for it. Because that's the only way for others to know that you need help!
We often think "others must see that they could help me". No, they don't have to. Others don't have to guess what I might need. Ask the right people and you will get help.
Now, of course, I'd like to know: Which of these tips has come right for you right now? Which strategy would you like to pay more attention to in the near future? Or what have you had good experiences with recently? Write to me in the comments, I look forward to reading from you.
