Lemons: How healthy and energizing the sour fruit really is

I took a closer look at lemons for one of my newsletters. And once again I noticed how many positive properties and even healing effects are reported about lemons.

Did you know, for example, that just 2% lemon juice is said to be enoughto purify water containing bacteria?
I will definitely remember that for long-distance travel, even though I will of course take my probiotic bacteria beforehand to protect my gut.

Effect of the lemon


In addition to the bactericidal effect, I have also found many other positive properties of lemon:

  • Appetizing
  • Antipyretic
  • Prevents colds
  • Digestive
  • Detoxifying
  • Vascular sealing
  • Cholesterol-lowering
  • Antiseptic
  • Helps against stomach cramps and flatulence


Envelopes with lemon juice are even said to alleviate the symptoms of eczema and areas of skin attacked by fungal infections!

Lemon is also said to help with cystitis and is also a good remedy if you are prone to constipation. Try this for a while:

Squeeze half a lemon in the morning and mix the juice with a glass of water (room temperature or even slightly warmed). Drink this first thing in the morning and observe the effect after 1-2 weeks.

I am also happy to give you a little home recipe for "hot lemon".

Hot lemon

  • Squeeze 1 lemon
  • Place in a cup or heat-resistant glass and pour in hot water
  • add 1 teaspoon of honey
  • Drink in small sips (as long as it is still hot!)


Drink this if you have a sore throat, if you feel a cold coming on or simply if you have a cold. The hot lemon may just manage to ward off the cold. And in summer you can also try the Chia Fresca drink.
