LCHF: Nourished from the inside out

Individual circumstances when losing weight

In dem Artikel im LCHF Magazin geht es darum, was einen Menschen nährt, wie es auf dieser Grafik abgebildet ist.

Nourished nourished - when I put these two words together I had the following thought in my head: not only food nourishes us, but actually everything that is around us, our entire life circumstances. As shown in my picture on the right.

When it comes to healthy eating, most people think that it simply takes enough discipline and a few fixed rules, maybe even a system or a diet that they can follow - and then it will work.

But: how long does the discipline last? And: what happens if you have a bad day because you've had a fight with your partner or a customer is causing problems?

When we're doing well, we're often better able to be disciplined, focused and "sensible". But when we have a crisis, we sometimes have a tendency to throw our health and good intentions overboard.

That's why nutrition is not just about the obvious facts of calories, carbohydrates and nutritional form, but also about soft factors that nourish us from within.

What does LCHF mean?

By the way, if you've come across the term LCHF, it stands for Low Carb High Fat. And it means that it is a form of nutrition in which you eat carbohydrate-consciously and consume enough high-quality fats.

Roman and I have been eating this way ourselves for some time, although we don't classify our diet in any particular direction because we follow a mixture of clean eating, paleo, LCHF, ketogenic nutrition and LOGI / metabolic balance. We have developed our own form of nutrition, so to speak, and alternate between these forms depending on the phase and current condition.

Because I am very fascinated by this topic of "primary foods", as a teacher of mine calls them, i.e. these factors surrounding us such as career, family, friends, spirituality and so on, I suggested this topic of "genährt ernährt" as an article to the editors of the German LCHF magazine. I am pleased that I can share this article with you here as a reading sample. You can download the article as a pdf:

Genährt ernährt - von innen Dein Aussen gestalten

I was very pleased that I was able to write an article in the LCHF magazine that is not directly related to nutrition, but rather to the topic of lifestyle.

Losing weight as a combination of diet and lifestyle

I usually come across topics such as relationships, jobs and lifestyle during consultations with my clients. or family. Because all these topics, the primary foods, actually have an influence on our eating behavior!

In our opinion, losing weight is always about both areas: Nutritional knowledge and lifestyle, theory on metabolism and attitude and motivation. Because only the combination of both will bring long-term success.

The goal is not to diet, but to change habits

Superficially or at first glance, a change in diet is usually about 2 things:

losing weight or improving health problems. I call this "suffering pressure". If this is present, then the motivation is usually there too.

But as soon as the pressure to suffer diminishes because you are already feeling better, the discipline or motivation quickly disappears. Unless your focus is not on a short-term diet but on a long-term change of habit.

And that's where I see the difference between a diet and a healthy way of eating.

A diet is often torture, a temporary state with the hope of being able to eat (so-called) normally again afterwards. However, a change in diet is a long-term change in habit, in the knowledge that our diet affects our whole being - energy, mood, creativity and much more are influenced by it. And so nutrition has an influence on our whole life, because if you feel good, the people around you will also feel good.

But it also works the other way round: if you first improve your living conditions and feel good as a result, then suddenly your motivation to take care of your health and well-being is much greater. That's why I recommend that you do the 'wheel of life' exercise as discussed in the article.

Think about two areas of your life that you would like to improve and write down the next step you will take in each area to improve it.
