This time, we would like to focus on women's health and care and address a very sensitive but very important topic: intimate care. After all, women should consider a few things about their intimate area in order to stay healthy and feel comfortable in their skin.
The sensitive skin flora
In healthy people, many things regulate themselves unnoticed and without us having to do anything. The skin, for example, has various protective mechanisms: one of these is the so-called skin flora. Harmless germs that live on the surface of the skin and keep the skin healthy. Another is the fatty acid mantle that covers our skin and has a certain pH value to prevent the growth of harmful bacteria. If sensitive, thin-skinned regions such as the intimate area are not properly cared for, the sensitive protective system can be disrupted: Irritation, skin irritation and inflammation are the result. Viruses and bacteria now have an easy time of it. Women who are often plagued by bladder infections should pay particular attention to their intimate hygiene and follow our tips on intimate hygiene.
The right care is crucial
The role of the pH value
The pH value plays an important role in maintaining the skin barrier. The pH value describes the measure of acidity and alkalinity on a scale from 0 to 14. Water with a value of 7 is "neutral". Values above this are "basic"/"alkaline", below this "acidic". The average pH value in a woman's intimate area is around 5, but is subject to natural fluctuations. Age and hormonal status play a major role here.
For example, the pH value before puberty and after the menopause is around 7, while it is between 3.8 and 4.5 during the sexually mature years. Alkaline soaps or normal shower gels can have a negative effect on this pH value. The skin's natural protective layer is then disrupted and the skin can no longer protect itself effectively. Pathogens can multiply and cause unpleasant damage. Women should therefore take great care of this area. The aim of effective care is to support the protective mechanisms of our skin and maintain the natural skin barrier. This can be achieved by using the right intimate care products.
Proper intimate care supports a healthy skin barrier
Our body is a miracle - the female zone cleans itself all by itself. No additional care such as douches or the like is needed here.
Outside, cleansing with warm water is usually sufficient.
Aggressive soaps, intimate deodorants or powders, on the other hand, should be avoided. They could irritate the sensitive area and irritate the mucous membranes. However, most women feel more comfortable using additional products. There is nothing to prevent this as long as special products are used that are suitable for the intimate area and do not attack or disrupt the acid mantle. Soap-free intimate wash lotions and care products specially designed for the sensitive female body help to maintain the skin's healthy acid mantle in the intimate region.

Arktis BioPharma Switzerlandoffers women two very well tolerated and natural products that effectively support healthy cleansing and have a beneficial effect at the same time:
→ Colostrum Lotion CLEAN for the daily care of the external intimate area, soap-/silicone-
/alkali-free and enriched with valuable plant extracts

→ Colostrum cream FRESH with a skin-neutral pH value, for daily use and beneficial for
itching, burning or inflammation in the external genital area.
Correct application is important for care
No washcloth should be used more than once for intimate care. If you hang it up to dry after use, bacteria could grow unhindered in the moist environment and reach the skin the next time it is used. It is better to use a fresh cloth or washcloth each time or to clean with your bare hands in the shower. If washcloths are used, care should be taken to ensure adequate washing hygiene. This means washing them sufficiently hot, preferably under themselves - this way germs don't stand a chance.
