Achieving goals - don't neglect the emotional component

The turn of the year is often the time when you set yourself one goal or another. However, it usually doesn't take long before the goal is lost sight of again. That's why it can also make sense to look at your goals again during the year.

We've learned a lot in the last few years of our self-employment, have been faced with intense challenges and have also grown enormously in the process. At least we think so.

All the more reason for us to take the time every 90 days to review our goals, set new ones and get our subconscious back on board.

I'm a big fan of writing down important things like this by hand, by the way. So, grab a pen and make a few notes after you've read this article!

Probably the best-known goal formula: SMART

Ziel 2018

Have you already dealt with the topic of setting goals? Then you probably know that goals should be SMART. Specific, measurable, achievable, action-oriented and so on. Blah blah blah.

That's all true, because when formulated in an unspecific and vague way, a wish is always just a wish (for example: "I always want to be healthy"). Of course, it's better if you say what you want as clearly, specifically and unambiguously as possible (for example: "I'll give up sugar completely by 30 May so that my cholesterol levels are back in the green by then.")

And as right and important as the concrete goal or specific wish is, if it doesn't appeal to you emotionally to achieve it, then you may well give up before you get there.

Do you know your why?

That's why we recommend getting to the bottom of the famous 'why' question in all our courses. In the first round of our gut nutrition course Darmglück, I did this so intensively and repeatedly that I thought at some point the participants were going to beat me over the head with the why!

But no, the feedback was actually that they particularly appreciated staying focused on this why.

Feelings as your compass on the way to your goal

But now I would like to give you some other food for thought. Think about what you want at the moment.

A house of your own? A new car? Or maybe a slim line? Or to finally get your skin problems under control?
On the surface, these wishes look pretty simple and straightforward. But underneath, under the tip of the iceberg so to speak, there is a longing. Namely, the longing to feel a certain way.

And when you start to examine this iceberg, you may realize that what appears to be a longing to feel a certain way is actually a longing to feel a certain way. The positive feelings we are looking for could be, for example, freedom, love, courage, authenticity, feeling seen, accepted, cheerful, energetic, happy.

Freedom, love, courage, authenticity, feeling seen, accepted, cheerful, full of energy, happy.

And if you now take the opposite approach to what you normally do, namely if you first think about: how do I actually want to feel in my life?

For example: radiant, confident, successful, valuable, spontaneous.

And then think about each of your goals to see whether they help you to feel the way you want to feel. Doesn't that give you a huge boost of motivation? And clarity?

You can apply this emotional filter to all the decisions you have to make this year. Because every time you don't know what to choose, just ask yourself: does it help me feel the way I want to feel?

Ok, and how does that help me achieve my health goals now?

Nutrition as the first domino

Sometimes I feel like I'm looking at everything through my non-objective nutritional glasses when I turn back to the topic of health.

But it is my deepest conviction that nutrition provides the foundation for a good body feeling. After all, we are made up of the substances we eat. Everything we eat ends up in our blood, is distributed throughout the body and is used for energy production and repair, among other things.

So our whole being, our thoughts, our actions and our charisma are influenced by what we eat.

Yes, nutrition is not everything in life. And a healthy diet alone won't enable you to live the life you want. But if you're not feeling well and you don't feel good in your body, then it's much more difficult to feel successful, valuable and radiant and to act accordingly.

The basic prerequisite for your health: the inspiration to do something about it

And although we know all this and although most of us know what we could do to promote our health, we often don't do it. Because we are not inspired enough. Because it seems too much effort. (Which, by the way, is often not even true - you're just using a difficult method).

That's why I recommend that you spend the next few days looking at the feelings you long for the most. And to derive your why and your goals from this.

If you then have an idea of why the topic of health could be important to you, then of course you still need the right methods, the knowledge and perhaps even the support to do so.

The fast track to your health

Once you've decided that health is important to you, you want to feel like this more often. as you so desperately wish, then we recommend that you start with your core.

Because, as the sparrows are now whistling from the rooftops, if there is one place in the body where you can influence your health the quickest, it is the gut. This is because the gut is our contact with the outside world and is where everything we take in from the outside ends up. And if I make sure that my gut functions optimally, I can have a positive influence on almost my entire body and even my psyche.

Our gut is a chemical factory, defense bulwark, home to our secret helpers, power plant and waste disposal system, and therefore deserves our full attention!

One of our biggest goals is to pass this knowledge on to as many people as possible!

Why? Because it hurts our hearts when we hear from our customers that they have been suffering from inexplicable symptoms for years, have seen countless therapists, have been declared crazy or are even on the verge of giving up, but still no one has made them aware that the gut is of central importance to our health.

And: because the sense of achievement with our customers makes us so happy and brings us closer to the feelings we are striving for. For example, full of energy. Connected. Generous.
