Bitter drops: Small but powerful. My experience report for digestion, cravings & inner peace If you've known me for a while, then you know: I love simple tools that are easy to use in everyday life. And bitter drops are just such a tool for me. They have been with me for years - in coaching, in my own everyday life and even when traveling.
What are bitter drops anyway?
Put simply, bitter drops contain concentrated bitter substances in an alcoholic solution. The alcohol serves as a preservative. This means that the drops have an extremely long shelf life and you don't have to store them in the fridge. For example, I always have a bottle in my handbag. Even heat in the car or humidity don't affect them.
Why bitter substances are important
Bitters have long been considered a "forgotten flavor", yet they are so important for our digestion. They stimulate the production of digestive juices, promote liver function and support the acid-base balance. Many people report that they have less bloating after eating if they have taken bitter drops beforehand. They are a real game changer, especially with heavy or fatty food, e.g. cheese fondue or tapas evening.
My tip for cravings
Do you know this? You're sitting on the sofa in the evening and suddenly have a craving for chocolate or something sweet? That's exactly when I like to use the bitter drops. A few drops on the tongue, let it work for a short time - and often the craving for something sweet is blown away.
This is how I take them
I personally drip them directly onto my tongue. If this is too intense for you, you can also dilute it with a little water. The important thing is Don't wash it down with a full glass of water, as the bitter taste is part of the effect. The dosage is flexible: I don't count drops, but usually take half to a whole pipette, depending on how I feel. The bottle says 15-20 drops. You can use this as a guide.
When do I use bitter drops?
Before a meal, if I know that it might be difficult to digest After a meal, if I have the feeling that it's "heavy on the stomach" In the evening, if I'm restless and can't fall asleep well If I'm ravenous, especially for sweets
My favorite combinations
Bitter drops combine particularly well with: Acacia fibers: additionally support digestion Herbal: a fermented herbal drink - like a toothbrush for the intestines Probiotics & multivitamins: complement each other well without interfering with each other
Conclusion
Bitter drops are not a miracle cure, but they are a small, very helpful tool for greater well-being in everyday life. Whether I'm on the go, eating a heavy meal or going to bed at night, they help me to listen to my body better and support it.
