What if your exhaustion isn't winter fatigue after all? (DG257)

Why chronic inflammation can be the cause of a lack of energy and what all this has to do with the gut

Winter has been very protracted this year and many people are complaining of a lack of energy and fatigue. I looked for a definition of winter fatigue. And found the following:"It is a general and diffuse type of fatigue that is triggered by the change from warm summer months to cold winter months. Symptoms of winter fatigue can include sleepiness, listlessness and a general feeling of exhaustion."
Many people blame these symptoms on external circumstances. But what if it actually comes from the gut? Sleep problems, hormonal fluctuations, immune deficiencies, mood swings, nutrient deficiencies - everything can come directly from the gut! I'll explain the connections in detail in a moment.

But before I go into the causes of permanent tiredness and exhaustion, I would first like to mention one option that can be very helpful in combating tiredness and fatigue, namely alkaline fasting. Alkaline fasting is a moderate form of fasting where you don't have to go hungry and you can do it from the comfort of your own home!
I will provide more information on this in future episodes. However, I would like to inform you that we - Anne Faulborn and I - are offering an alkaline fasting cure with our company in October. You can then take part in the group, together with us, in your own home.
The actual cure will take place from October 17-24, so you should keep that free! Before that, however, we will be meeting from October 10 to prepare. You can put your name on the waiting list without obligation if you would like to take part:https://www.arktisbiopharma.ch/basenfasten
The waiting list will tell you when we start and how you can book.We will charge CHF 120 for the 2-week accompaniment, the documents and live calls. You can take part from anywhere in the world, and I'm really looking forward to our time together.
But now to the actual topic. Exhaustion and constant tiredness, which many people associate with winter fatigue at the end of a long period of bad weather. The cause of chronic fatigue is often to be found in the gut, in connection with chronic inflammation in the gut.

Why is chronic inflammation an energy thief?

Energy expenditure for the immune defense

Inflammatory processes: Chronic inflammation means that the immune system is constantly active. The immune system needs energy to maintain inflammatory processes, which leads to higher energy consumption.
cytokines: These inflammatory mediators promote the release of energy reserves, which is useful in the short term, but leads to exhaustion in the long term.

Influence on the metabolism

Insulin resistance: Chronic inflammation can reduce insulin sensitivity, which leads to poorer glucose uptake in the cells. This means that less glucose is available for energy production.
Mitochondrial function: Inflammation can impair the function of the mitochondria (the "power plants" of the cells), which leads to lower energy production.

Impaired nutrient absorption

Intestinal barrier: Inflammation can weaken the intestinal barrier, which leads to reduced nutrient absorption. In turn, nutrient deficiencies can contribute to fatigue and tiredness.
Leaky gut syndrome: Chronic inflammation can make the intestinal wall more permeable, which increases the risk of nutrient deficiencies and toxic exposure. This also triggers reactions from the immune system and leads to further inflammation. If you would like to know whether you already have a leaky gut, you are welcome to take the leaky gut test with us, which is a simple stool analysis that you can do from the comfort of your own home!https://shop.arktisbiopharma.ch/leaky-gut-analyse/B-103

What is the connection between the gut and chronic inflammation?

Intestinal flora and inflammatory processes

Imbalance of the intestinal flora: Dysbiosis (imbalance of intestinal bacteria) can lead to inflammation. Beneficial bacteria such as bifidobacteria and lactobacilli produce anti-inflammatory substances, while harmful bacteria release pro-inflammatory substances.
Endotoxins: Bacteria in the gut can release endotoxins. Endotoxins are potentially harmful components of Gram-negative bacteria that can enter the bloodstream and trigger systemic inflammatory reactions if the intestinal barrier is weakened.
Suggestion to counteract this: Arktibiotic Compenshttps://shop.arktisbiopharma.ch/arktibiotic-compens-90g-compens/200183

Diet and gut health

Fiber: A low-fiber diet can negatively impact gut health, as fiber serves as food for beneficial gut bacteria and produces anti-inflammatory short-chain fatty acids such as butyrate.
Sugar and saturated fats: A Diets rich in sugar and saturated fats can promote inflammatory processes in the gut.
Suggestion to counteract this: Arctic Grow acacia fiber and omega 3 fish oil capsuleshttps://shop.arktisbiopharma.ch/fischoelkapseln-mit-omega-3-fettsaeuren/200035

Immune system in the gut

GALT (gut-associated lymphoid tissue): The gut contains a large amount of lymphoid tissue, which plays a key role in the immune system. Chronic inflammation in the gut can overload the immune system and trigger systemic inflammatory reactions.Suggestion to counteract this: Colostrum Strong liquidhttps://shop.arktisbiopharma.ch/colostrum-strong-125-ml/360000

Systemic effects of gut health

Systemic inflammatory markers: Inflammation in the gut can increase systemic inflammatory markers, leading to chronic fatigue.
Hormonal imbalance: Chronic inflammation can cause hormonal imbalances, such as increased cortisol levels, which also contribute to fatigue.

Conclusion

Chronic inflammation in the gut can have a significant impact on the body's energy balance. It increases energy expenditure through sustained immune activity, impairs metabolism and nutrient absorption and leads to systemic inflammatory responses that extend far beyond the gut. Promoting healthy gut flora through a balanced diet, the use of probiotics and prebiotics and a healthy lifestyle can help reduce chronic inflammation and increase energy levels.
So to counteract chronic fatigue, you should definitely start with the gut and ideally carry out a microbiome analysis such as the leaky gut test. Talk to us, Milena from our team can give you expert advice. I will also mention the leaky gut test in the follow-up notes athttps://www.arktisbiopharma.ch/257.
If you don't want to do a test, then I would support the intestinal flora with lactic acid bacteria and anti-inflammatory bacteria, plus acacia fibers and something anti-inflammatory like omega-3 or colostrum. We have also had customers who simply started with the Energy (Q10 and NADH+) and reported super quick results.
I'm speaking from my own experience here and giving you ideas on which direction you can look in. But of course I'm not making any personal health recommendations and you should always contact your therapist or get in touch with us for personal coaching. If you have longer and more serious problems, it is definitely worth working with a specialist who knows about gut health.
And If you would like to join us for alkaline fasting in October, please register for the waiting list. Alkaline fasting also has an anti-inflammatory effect and helps you to remove toxins from your body and regain more strength and energy.https://www.arktisbiopharma.ch/basenfasten
