The key to a strong immune system and better digestion
Why are vitamins and minerals important?
Metaphorically speaking, they are the spark that gets our engine running. But contrary to the commonly held idea that you simply have to eat enough fruit and vegetables to get a good supply of vitamins, the real issue is whether your gut can absorb the vitamins at all!Intestinal health and its importance
The intestine is a complex organ that is not only responsible for digestion, but also plays a central role in our immune system. The intestine is home to the intestinal flora, a huge ecosystem of trillions of bacteria that are in constant interaction with your body. Healthy intestinal flora is important for:Digestion -The gut flora helps to break down food and absorb nutrients
Immune system -The gut flora trains our immune system and protects us from harmful pathogens
Health -A healthy gut flora can reduce the risk of diseases such as allergies, asthma, diabetes and even cancer
Influence of vitamins and minerals on gut health
Numerous vitamins and minerals play an important role in the health of the intestinal flora.Vitamin A - Supportsthe mucous membranes in the intestine and strengthens the immune system
Vitamin C -Is a powerful antioxidant that protects intestinal cells from damage
Vitamin D -Promotes the formation of antimicrobial peptides, that fight harmful bacteria
B vitamins-Are important for the metabolism and energy production of intestinal bacteria
Magnesium -Soothes the intestines and helps with constipation
Calcium -Is important for the formation of the intestinal wall and the absorption of vitamin D
Zinc -Supports immune function and wound healing in the intestine
Signs of an undersupply of vitamins and minerals
An undersupply of vitamins and minerals can cause various symptoms:- Tiredness
- Hair loss
- Brittle nails
- Sleep disorders
- Susceptibility to infections
And we actually used to start with this. However, experience has shown us that it is better to proceed in a different order, namely Cleanse the gut first!
Tips for a good supply of vitamins and minerals
- First of all, make sure you have a healthy gut. Because nutrients are absorbed via the gut! Ideally, you should do a microbiome analysis.
- To get the gut in order, you need a gut-friendly, anti-inflammatory diet. This type of diet is also rich in vitamins and minerals (vegetables, pulses, high-quality meat, eggs, fish, etc.)
- If you still have symptoms after the intestinal cleansing or you want to know where you stand, then it makes sense to have a blood analysis.
- Then supplement and check again.
- Vitamin D is an exception. This should be checked right from the start and you can supplement if necessary.
