The gut-skin axis or why gut health is so important for beautiful skin - DG199

Why the skin is also called the mirror image of the gut

The relationship between the skin and the gut is complex and there are many factors that can influence the health of both organs. There are some theories that suggest there may be a link between gut health and skin health. Some experts believe that inflammation in the gut can lead to inflammation in the skin, as the gut and skin are both part of the immune system.
There is also evidence that an imbalance of gut bacteria (dysbiosis) can lead to skin problems such as acne, eczema and rosacea. However, it is important to note that many other factors can affect skin health, including diet, stress, sleep and environmental factors such as sunlight and air pollution.
Overall, there is no definitive answer as to whether the skin is a reflection of the gut. However, it is clear that a healthy diet and lifestyle aimed at promoting gut health can also help promote healthy skin.

I talk about the following points in today's episode.
  • Gut - skin connection
  • Psyche and stress also have an influence on the skin (demarcation organ)
  • Causes of poor gut - poor skin
  • Specific to acne
  • Intestinal imbalance due to histamine
  • What to avoid in the diet
  • Which foods I recommend
