Today I'm answering a listener question, which is:
"I listened to your anniversary episode and enjoyed it very much. You encouraged me to ask questions, which I would like to do. :) I'm wondering how much fructose (fruits such as bananas and dried fruit) I can eat with my dysbiosis (increased putrefactive bacteria and high pH). I always ate at least one banana a day, sometimes two. I also ate other fruit and dried fruit (I hardly ever eat industrial sugar). I was told that I should only eat one banana a week and that I should also avoid dried fruit in the broadest sense, as this causes putrefactive bacteria to multiply. I think it would be super exciting and would be very happy if you could go into the subject of fructose and bad gut bacteria."
My answer to this includes the following points:

My answer to this includes the following points:
- What is dysbiosis and what are its consequencesIf the environment is not right, the good bacteria (lacto and bifidobacteria) retreat and putrefactive bacteria and other potentially pathogenic bacteria multiply. among other things, these also form toxic metabolic products. In addition, prolonged dysbacteria can lead to changes in the intestinal mucosa and thus also to leaky gut
- It would be good to know other values of the microbiome analysis (digestive residues, histamine in the stool, possibly leaky gut markers), it also depends on the actual symptoms
- I recommend listening to episode 096 of the podcast
- Sugar from fruit is not the same as fructose
- Bananas and dried fruit contain a relatively high amount of fructose, and both also contain a lot of histamine!
- Excess fructose can end up in the large intestine and cause problems there (microbiome analysis: digestive residues)
- Basically, we are genetically programmed for 30g of sugar per day, so a maximum of 3 portions of fruit per day, I recommend only 2
- Recommendation: get away from the need for sweet taste
- Bitter drops are helpful for sweet cravings, but also for increased pH values
- Herbal also helps extremely well to lower the pH value in the intestine
