Frequently asked questions about our probiotics answered (DG 180)

Why our probiotics come in powder form and not in capsules or sachets

Once again I'm reporting from the campervan, today from near Mora in Sweden.
Earlier this week, we were guests at our parent company Arktis BioPharma Germany. It's always great to be on site and talk to colleagues and exchange ideas.
I also always find it impressive to be able to see where the products are packaged and take a look behind the scenes.
We also had a long chat with the head of Arktis BioPharma Germany and, among other things, I asked him a few common questions that I had received in product training sessions and in conversations with therapists and customers.

You can hear the answers to these questions in today's podcast episode
  • Why are our probiotics in powder form and not in capsules?Because of the dosage, so you can sneak them in or take a larger amount. Incidentally, we also have probiotics in capsule form, such as Akut, or in liquid form, such as Herbal. We also use powders instead of capsules for other products because of the ease of dosing, such as glutamine. The powder form of probiotics also allows the bacteria to be rehydrated, which can further increase their effectiveness if left to stand for a longer period of time and can also have a positive effect on tolerance.
  • Couldn't we also sell single portions in sachets?Sachets produce a lot of additional waste and contain aluminum, which doesn't really fit in with our understanding of sustainability.
  • Do the bacteria even reach the intestines?Yes, they do, based on the numerous positive responses from our customers alone, we can say that they work. However, there are also studies, e.g. from our laboratory with which we work, which show their effectiveness.
  • Totox value of the fish oilOur fish oil has a Totox value of 1.2 Our products are generally tested by independent laboratories and you can be sure that the quality is always checked! Arktis BioPharma works with German quality suppliers who carry out the tests in Germany.
  • What is Arktis BioPharma's approach to sustainability?
We are in the process of replacing as many plastic cans as possible with glass to replace it. This is not possible with larger cans, such as acacia fibers, because it would be too heavy. But we are working on a solution. The larger Grow bags, for example, already come in paper bags, which are even compostable. As is the case with many other products, they do not contain any plastic or other coatings.
I hope you now understand a little better why our probiotics come in powder form and how much Arktis BioPharma is concerned about constantly improving its products and about things like sustainability and effectiveness.
At the meeting with Team Arktis, I also spoke to the Social Media Manager Marco and he motivated me to post more on social media again. I've now opted for Instagram because that's what I like best at the moment. I would be delighted if you would follow us there and also like and comment! You can find us athttps://www.instagram.com/arktisbiopharmaschweiz/and I'll also link the Arktis BioPharma Germany account in the episode notes.
