My reasons for this episode
Why am I talking about death today? There are two reasons:- My father passed away unexpectedly a little over a month ago and this has prompted me to give some thought to death
- I feel like discussion about COVID and the fear-mongering around this disease has a lot to do with the fear of death

A constant source of inspiration for me
The title of this podcast episode is inspired by one of my mentors, Jim Fortin.
Quote Jim Fortin:
"We humans spend a large part of our lives trying to avoid the one thing that is inevitable in our lives: our own transition off the planet, or what we call death.
The truth is, if we embrace the totality of our being and accept our "death", we can use it as a "life coach" and understand what is important to us and how we can best live our lives.
Most of us insist on seeing our lives from the smallest "part" of us, and that blinds us."
I recommend that you also listen to his podcast episode EPISODE 110: "This Is Your Greatest Advisor" if you are interested in the shamanic perspective on death.
What kind of content awaits you in this episode
Here are a few thoughts from me that I elaborate on a little more in the podcast episode:
- Life is finite. And short!
- Why are you here?
- What did you give up to come here?
- What do you want to leave behind (What do you want said about you at your memorial service or what would be in your obituary and what can you do now to make that happen)?
- Practical advice (living will, will, how you would like your funeral service and burial to be)
- What to say to someone who has just lost a loved one
- Live now
- Live your life, not the lives of others (others will judge you anyway, so you might as well do what fulfills you)
- Prepare yourself mentally for your death so that the transition will be easy for you
- Don't leave things unresolved with people who are important to you
- The only thing you can take with you is what you have learned here. have
