What is leaky gut anyway?

Leaky gut means permeable or full of holes. It is a condition in which the intestinal mucosa is no longer tight, or has holes that are too large, allowing substances that do not belong there to enter the bloodstream. The consequence of this
If you would like to find out more about leaky gut, I can recommend past episodes, such as episode 108 with Dr. Vilmos Fux or episode 29 entitled "What is leaky gut". Or you can also find some blog articles about it on our website! I'll link you to everything in the episode notes for this episode.

My dietary recommendations for leaky gut

Today I'm going to talk about how you can eat if you already know that you have leaky gut or are struggling with any chronic inflammatory diseases.
In such cases, I recommend the so-called Paleo diet.
This eliminates the two main triggers for leaky gut, namely wheat and dairy products. But you also avoid industrially processed foods, additives, sugar, alcohol, pulses and cereals.

You eat vegetables, fruit, meat, fish, eggs, nuts and seeds for at least 4 weeks and supplement this with high-quality fats.

Benefits of an anti-inflammatory diet

From my years of experience with several thousand clients, I can confirm first-hand that an anti-inflammatory diet has many benefits, such as
  • More energy
  • Ideal body weight (gaining or losing weight)
  • Digestive regulation
  • More beautiful skin
  • Nutrient supply
  • Blood sugar regulation
  • Strengthening the immune system
  • Prevention of civilization diseases
  • Fighting inflammation
  • stress reduction
  • and much more

Special feature of the autoimmune protocol:
For at least 30 days, the following foods are also removed from the diet and can then be tested for tolerance: Eggs, nightshade plants (including tomatoes, peppers, chili, potatoes, eggplant), nuts & seeds (also coffee, cocoa, and spices from nightshade plants such as paprika powder).

Frequently asked questions, which I will answer below

:
  • Does this also work for vegetarians?
  • How long should I eat this diet?
  • Will I never be allowed to eat bread or chocolate again?
  • Isn't that far too time-consuming?
  • Doesn't it cost a lot more to eat like this?
