Hello and welcome, so nice to have you here!
This is your host Julia Gruber, and today is a very special episode, episode 50!
That means my podcast is also almost 1 year old and hasbeen downloaded63,000timesin that time.I would like to thank you very much for listening to me and allowing me to enter your world with my thoughts, my ideas and my inspirations.
Thank you for your time and for supporting this podcast, because without listeners, the podcast would of course make no sense!
I'm so pleased that the content is going down well and at the end of this episode I'll also give you a brief overview of the highlights from these 50 episodes and what's coming up for you in the near future.
But first, I want to tell you about the number one mistake that I think people make when it comes tochanging their diet orchanging their habits.
And that is that most people don't strive for change from within, but from external circumstances.
But if you act from the outside, there is a very good chance that you will never achieve your goal.
Most of the reasons (or shall we call them excuses?) why you can't change something also have to do with these external circumstances.
It sounds something like this:
"If I had more time, I would make my diet healthier so that I could lose a few kilos and have a nice figure".
Or
"If I had more money, I could afford a nutrition program that would teach me the right strategy to finally achieve health success".
Or
"If I had more energy, I would adopt healthier behavior so that I have better digestion".
Incidentally, these are the 3 biggest obstaclesthat prevent people from achieving their big goals. No time, no money or no energy.
And here I can let you in on a secret: if you blame these circumstances that youcan't realizethings that are important to you, then you will continue to find the same circumstances in your life.
If you don't have the money to eat healthily and you keep telling yourself that you don't have the money, your subconscious won't help you find the money.
We are where our attention is. If we have our attention on lack, we will continue to receive lack.
There are two more things to consider:
For now, I simply recommend that you think in terms of solutions rather than problems.
Now the question is:Do you perhaps recognizeyourself a little bitin what I saidearlier? What do you have no money for? Or no time, even though you would love to have it or do it?
If you're notdriving orjogging, just take out a piece of paper and write down what you would like to have or achieve.Of course, this worksfor all kinds of goals, but since we're mainly talking about health here on the Darmglück Podcast, I suggest you choose a health-related goal.
Let's say for example, you suffer from bloating and a constantly distended stomach. Then your goal could be that you want a flat stomach and a light feeling in your middle.
And now comes the moment when most people make the mistake of going straight into action. They say to themselves - "ok, I want to get rid of bloating, so I research that I can take bitter drops, for example, that I can cut out fizzy drinks, that I can use herbs or fennel seeds for cooking" and so on.
So they rush into the external strategies that people use when they have flatulence and either succeed or fail. If they are successful, they usually stop using these measures as soon as they have achieved success, because they no longer need them. And if they areunsuccessful, then they also stop taking the measuresbecause they have achieved nothing.
And so the problems usually persist in the long term.
My suggestion as to how youcan approachthe really important things in your lifeis to tackle them from the inside.
And by the way, ifyou're thinking,"well, bloating is annoying, but it's not that important" - don't be fooled... Our well-being is so much more important thanwe sometimesrealize at first glance.
When you have bloating, you feel sluggish, tired, unbalanced and somehow not in a good mood. Do you think you're able to do your best work? To be creative? Recognize new opportunities? Or even stand up for others?
Physical discomfort always stops us from living our best lives. And pragmatically speaking, bloating is always a sign that something is wrong in your gut. And if you ignore it for too long, it can turn into a more serious problem. Not just in the gut, but in the whole body, because the gut determines 80% of our health.
So, now we've clarified why this is important. By the way, I talked about this in episode 038 of the data-contrast="auto"> Podcasts shared a great exercise with you, which youare welcome to listen to! It's definitely a good addition to this episode.
Now, whatdoes it mean when I tell you to tackle the problem from the inside?
It means that you think about what is the identity of a person who is taking care of their bloating. So, not what does this person do, what is the best strategy, what are the steps, what is the method, ... but: What is this person like?
For example: They are appreciative of themselves and their body. They are curious and open to new approaches. Theyare mindful. Determined. And so on.
Sometimes it also helps if you imagine a person you know or a person you know from television or a novel, even a fictional person.
And then become this person who has the qualities you need to tackle your topic. So start with your being, your identity, and the steps you can take will automatically follow from this and you will then take these steps.
And that way you can make a lasting change, because it's no longer primarily about having, what do I want to have, but about being, who do I want to be.
If you then combine this with the why, you're really unstoppable and it's even fun and easy for you.
I'm excited to see what kind of identity you identify with and how the process works for you, and I'm looking forward to hearing about your findings and results.
It remains for me topause for a moment and look back at the last 49 episodes. I have to say thatpodcasting really is a great medium, and I really enjoy listening to podcasts myself, but it's not always easy because of the lack of direct feedback.
I took a look at which episodes were the most popular in terms of how often they were downloaded.
Here is the top 10 list of the most popular episodes:
I find it interesting that there are a lot of solo episodes. Personally, I always find the interview episodes particularly exciting because I have also invited guests who are very interesting and inspiring to me.
So my personal highlights were definitely episode 026 with Janna Scharfenberg on Ayurveda, episode 048 with SaschaRöhler on Paleo nutrition, episode 035 with Mike Schwarz on hypnosis and episode 033 with Matthias Hofmann on bread and cereals. And the latest episode, episode 049 with AnnaReschreiter on cooling food according to TCM. These are the highlights that come to mind spontaneously.
And of my solo episodes, I likedEpisode 021 about the goals-setting and also episode 047 about hypnosis, episode 036 about the Gut Happiness Formula and episode 011 about the real cause of heartburn.
Of course, I want to continue to provide you with exciting topics about the gut, nutrition, lifestyle and Mindset and there are already some greatinterviews in the queue, on the thyroid gland with AlexBroll, Ayurveda with Dr. JannaScharfenberg, partnership and sabotage with Eva Lueg or what the gut has to do with money with UtaNimsgarn, for example.
I'llalsobe talking about what you can do if you get a scary diagnosis such as Crohn's disease or psoriasis, I'll be talking aboutprobiotics with my husband Roman and I'll be happy to answer more questions from listeners, as I've already done in a few episodes.
Do you have a question for me? Or would you like to tell me which episode you particularly enjoyed? Or in general, why you listen to my podcast, how you like it or what else you would like to see?
Have a good week and I look forward to hearing from you next week for episode 051.
In this episode, I interview vocation & relationship coach Eva Lueg about "what you can do when your partner wants to sabotage your healthy lifestyle". Now I recommend you subscribe to the podcast so you don't miss an episode, and if you like what you hear, I really appreciate a review on iTunes or Apple Podcast. Because those reviews also help other people find the podcast so we can spread the knowledge about gut and health more.

If you act out of your circumstances, you will only get the same circumstances again
Incidentally, these are the 3 biggest obstaclesthat prevent people from achieving their big goals. No time, no money or no energy.
And here I can let you in on a secret: if you blame these circumstances that youcan't realizethings that are important to you, then you will continue to find the same circumstances in your life.

We are where our attention is
We are where our attention is. If we have our attention on lack, we will continue to receive lack.
There are two more things to consider:
- Is what you think is so important to you really important at all? When you say you don't have enough money to eat healthy, what you're really saying is healthy eating is less important to me than spending my money on other things. And yes, I know there are people who actually don't have any money. Not even for food. But they don't listen to my podcast. Because to listen to it, you at least need the internet, a cell phone /tablet or computer and the leisure to listen to my words.
- If you're wondering how I can eat healthily if I don't have any money, then just think about how you could ask yourself a better question. A question that doesn't make you a victim, but a creator of your reality. For example, the question: where could I get money to eat healthier? Or: how could I get healthy food without having to pay more for it? Only when you ask the right questions can solutions come your way!
For now, I simply recommend that you think in terms of solutions rather than problems.
What is your problem that you would like to solve if you had more time or energy or money?
Now the question is:Do you perhaps recognizeyourself a little bitin what I saidearlier? What do you have no money for? Or no time, even though you would love to have it or do it?

External, superficial strategies won't get you there in the long term

And if they areunsuccessful, then they also stop taking the measuresbecause they have achieved nothing.
And so the problems usually persist in the long term.
Bloating is just a minor issue - isn't it?
My suggestion as to how youcan approachthe really important things in your lifeis to tackle them from the inside.
And by the way, ifyou're thinking,"well, bloating is annoying, but it's not that important" - don't be fooled... Our well-being is so much more important thanwe sometimesrealize at first glance.
