After talking about specific steps for gut cleansing in the last episode, I want to show you in this episode that it's worth the effort!
Gut health has an impact on your whole life, as incredible as that may sound!
In this podcast episode, I talk about, among other things
Today I am extremely happy because the podcast is going into its 40th episode! I'm proud that I've managed to publish an episode every week.
I've just looked at my statistics and my episodes have been downloaded 46,800 times so far! That's amazing!
Today I'm giving you a little motivational boost to take care of your gut health. I want to show you the effects of a well-functioning gut and a naturally balanced microbiome.
After giving you specific steps for gut cleansing in the last episode, today I want to tell you why it's worth the effort.
Many people think that when I rave about gut health, I'm totally exaggerating. For over 12 years, I have experienced almost daily with my clients what a difference it makes when your body is healthy.
Health starts in the gut!
Why does the gut have such an impact on health and organs?
At the end of the day, all organs in the body are connected. It starts in the gut. The gut is our center, our root. It is the place where nutrients are absorbed, where hormones and enzymes are produced.
The cause of many complaints lies in the gut and that is why it makes sense to start there.
It definitely makes sense to look at the whole system and that is why the holistic approach is so important for your health.
If you want to fix something, you first have to start with the cause and the place where you have the greatest leverage. You can achieve this leverage by:
When you start to get your gut back in order, you can expect a positive impact on your sleep and energy levels, among other things. Most people notice this as a change first.
What's the connection?
Your body needs serotonin (happiness hormone), which is the precursor to melatonin (sleep hormone). If you want to produce enough sleep hormone, it is a basic requirement that you have enough serotonin in your body.
90% of serotonin is produced in the gut!
I have another tip on sleeping: I interviewed Johanna in episode 18 of the podcast, you can listen to the interview here:
DG018: After just two days of changing your diet I slept again - Interview with Johanna Pecina, who has been diagnosed with Crohn's disease
Johanna told me that she was suddenly able to sleep again a few days after changing her diet, after years of not being able to. I don't need to tell you what effect this has on your quality of life. You can see how quickly the body can react when it starts to heal itself - I find it incredibly fascinating!
Another effect you can expect is that your skin will react again. Skin and gut are closely linked. It is said that the skin is a mirror image of the gut. Your skin also has a microbiome - so there are bacteria on the skin too - and this microbiome needs to be in good condition for the skin to be well.
As I said, we produce hormones in the gut and if this is not working properly, the hormone balance has a direct impact on the skin.
Another connection is that inflammation often originates in the gut and many skin diseases have an inflammatory background. Inflammation travels through the body and that's why it's so important to reduce it in the gut and eat an anti-inflammatory diet - this has a positive effect on the skin. If your skin becomes more beautiful, this naturally has a positive effect on its appearance.
My aim is simply to encourage people.
If you have problems that you may have had for years - perhaps even despite exercise and a healthy diet - it will be worth revising your diet and focusing on gut health.
There are foods that are healthy in theory but are not good for the gut. It always sounds so exaggerated when I say all this and it always makes me a bit uncomfortable, because of course there are many things involved. But I can really say from experience that gut health can work wonders! You have nothing to lose, you can just give it a try.
Try it for 14 days, see it through. In the last podcast episode 39, I gave you very specific steps on what you can do.
You can listen to the episode here: DG039: Seven concrete strategies for a healthier gut
Follow these steps and you'll see that if you implement them 100% consistently, you'll feel an improvement after 14 days - if not, it really wasn't the gut.
Another effect is your mood and a certain clarity and better concentration.
One customer said after changing her diet and cleansing her gut (after just one day!!) that the foggy feeling she always had before had disappeared and she had much more energy. There is a so-called gut-brain axis and our gut and brain are connected. If the messenger substances work properly again, if this connection plays out properly again and inflammation-promoting foods are omitted, it is completely logical.
A non-functioning gut is a huge energy thief!
As I said, I just want to encourage you. I'll tell you what I've already experienced in my practice and I hope that you'll make this attempt.
Another effect is a better quality
I had someone on my course who had suffered from constipation since childhood. He is now over 50 and after the change his digestion worked again! Or imagine having diarrhea all the time. How this affects your quality of life.
You can get this under control in a short time if you take a few probiotics and make a few targeted changes and focus on them. That's the main message of this episode. Focus on the gut and gut health if you have discomfort that you can't get rid of.
Bloating is also an issue that many people dismiss.
Bloating can be painful and can even cause a herniated disc. One of my clients reported that her back pain disappeared completely after her bowel cleansing!
Bloating is not as harmless as you might think. YOU can expect it to disappear if you take care of your gut and gut health. I also covered this in an interview in episode 24 with Cecile. She has had positive effects on her skin as well as on her bloating.
You can listen to this episode here: DG024 My skin has improved and my stomach pain has disappeared - Interview with Cécile Künzli-Zangger
One last thing you can expect is your weight to start to regulate. If you eat a gut-friendly diet and give your gut the opportunity to digest properly, you can expect the extra pounds to come off by themselves.
I really hope that I can encourage you with this episode.
And if you're saying 'I already knew all that'. You may have heard it all before, but you don't know it if you're still having problems. Because then you haven't put it into practice yet.
Putting it into practice is the most important thing. Hopefully I've given you motivation with this episode and if you have it, now it's time to put it into practice.
