Today I'm answering another listener question, which is: "I've read that probiotics are made from sewage sludge. That sounds terrible. Is that true?"



My answer includes the following points:

• Bacteria are cultivated in standardized processes
• The basis for lactic acid-producing bacteria are isolated bacteria that were originally obtained from human stool, purified and added to a bacteria bank
• there are numerous scientific studies on these bacteria before they are used in products
• high food standards and safety regulations make it unacceptable to use sewage sludge, faeces or other waste
• Our products are made with high-quality raw materials from Europe and mostly Germany and are regularly checked by independent laboratories
• We work with full declarations of ingredients and, wherever possible, with pure substances (98%)
